Our client, within the Federal Government, has a contract opportunity (for up to 4 years) for a Java Developer to work in Summerside PEI. The contracts will start during the last week of January and will run till to March 31st, 2013 with an additional extension option to March 2017. The is a great opportunity for someone looking to move back to the east coast for a long term stable contract.
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
• Analysis of the functional requirements to identify potential solutions,
• Define input/output sources, including detail system requirements for technical design phase, and obtain approval of the solution’s proposal.
• Designs and documents in detail all solutions components, their interfaces and operational environment.
• Design data structures and files, sub-systems and modules, programs, and production monitoring procedures, testing strategy and systems.
• Document system design, concepts and facilities, present and obtain approval of detailed system design.
• Adhere to quality assurance standards to be used during development phase,
• Ensure the solution (s) adheres to the internal departmental architecture and infrastructure
• Analyze performance and tune system, and complete system documentation.
• Perform independent verification and validation of software component and systems functions and performance
• Support solutions in test and production environments; does problem resolution/debugging.
• Ensure that quality assurance sessions are held on all deliverables produced.
• Utilize the departmental standard tools and practices for modeling, documenting and testing the system.
• Promote best practices.
• Review documentation for transfer of knowledge and update training documentation.
• Provide status reports and attend regular project team meetings throughout the project.
• Support and use the selected methodologies.
Candidates must have:
- Must have, or be eligible for, Secret Security Clearance. This requires candidates who have lived in Canada for the past 10 years.
- A minimum of six (6) years of working experience in IT with three (3) years as a Programmer Analyst
- Minimum of four years’ experience in the last eight years with JDK, 2 years with JDK version 1.5+.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the last four (4) years, using EJB as a programmer/analyst.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the last four (4) years, with DB2 or other relational database as a programmer/analyst.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the last four (4) years, constructing JAVA Swing applications as a programmer or analyst.
